Interview with Chest-A-Peel, LLC’s VP of Product Development, Aisling Fenelon:
Chest-A-Peel has been available in Europe for many years. Why are we just now starting to see this product in the US?
We were extremely careful in the way that we went about creating this product. We had a patented concept but spent an extraordinary amount of time on research and development of the pad to make sure that the adhesive was safe, the pad was comfortable and that women would be able to use the product safely and effectively. When we released the product initially, we knew that we had something which was more revolutionary than a new lotion or cream. This is a brand new way of taking care of your skin and so there is an education that needs to happen in the marketplace. We started in Europe because the Europeans tend to be a bit more open-minded when it comes to new products in the beauty arena. We specifically started in the Netherlands because the bright sun and fair skin of the natives made it an excellent test market. The results have been tremendous! Women in Europe are flocking to the product. Perhaps the most telling fact is that our repeat customer base is about 65%. This tells me that women want and need the Chest-A-Peel, but it also tells me that it really works because women are coming back to buy replacement pads.
Where did the idea for Chest-A-Peel originate?
The story behind Chest-A-Peel is a great one. It is absolutely true that necessity is the mother of invention. The inventor of Chest-A-Peel is a Nashville businesswoman named Carolyn Killen. As Carolyn entered her late 30s, she realized that the creases which appeared on her chest after a good night’s sleep were not disappearing as they once had. She was frustrated because she takes such good care of her appearance and her general health and yet, here was a prominent area of her body and one of her favorite features, which she seemed to have lost control over. She was convinced that there had to be a way to protect her chest from the impact of muscle weight and skin folds while she slept. Carolyn consulted her good friend, a prominent scientist, and together the two spent many years perfecting the patented product that is the Chest-A-Peel Heart Series Pillow Pad.
